Why is attendance important?
We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day. If students miss school regularly, they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in later years of school.
There really is no safe number of days for missing school – each day a student misses puts them behind, and can have a huge impact on their education.
Attendance processes and procedures
At Roslyn Primary School our attendance is recorded through Compass each morning and afternoon by the teachers. You can review this in your child’s profile.
We require you to notify us of your child’s absence through your child’s profile. This can be done in advance if you know that your child is going to be absent from school. You must also do this for any whole day absences which will show up in your Compass parent profile. Please refer to the ‘Roslyn Primary School Compass Parent and Carer Handbook’ for further information on how to do this.
Our school will also notify you via email or push notification from Compass if a student is not present and you have not notified the school. If you are notified by the school that your child is away without a reason, please contact us as soon as possible to let us know where your child is.
Please refer to our ‘Attendance Policy’ for further information.
