In 2019 Roslyn Primary School received a grant from Energy Australia to develop our ‘Sensory and Sustainability Garden’. This space is designed as a therapeutic garden to provide students with sensory stimulation.
All our students can benefit from the highly interactive and heightened sensory experience of exploring and playing in this space. Students with autism spectrum disorder and sensory processing disorders also have highly specialised needs that can be uniquely met through the opportunities offered by our sensory garden.
This space is also designed as an escape for students who struggle with the openness of the school yard. Our sensory garden provides them with a confined space where they can engage with activities at their leisure.
Our ‘Sensory and Sustainability Garden’ also includes our chook yard, and an array of sustainability items including a compost bin and worm farm.
